My Fitness Journey part 2

Alright,

so where did I last leave off? I arrived in Chiang Mai and I had grew my travellers legs. I Began getting out and feeling more comfortable with my surroundings. I Located the Muay Thai Gym I was going to be training at and was looking forward to getting started. I had been in contact with this place for some time. Turns out he thought I offended my trainer in Toronto or something and he refused to train me. Wasn’t that great… So, I had to head out and look for a different gym.

This was actually really fun. I went and checked out several different gyms throughout the week and had such a good experience meeting new people and just training. I eventually found “Kiat Busaba” or Lanna Muay Thai and that’s when my whole plan changed. The atmosphere at this gym was incredible. It had all the elements I wanted plus had a Muay Boran Master there (ancient muay thai). Simply put I got to learn the all that muay thai had to offer plus study in the ancient techniques that they used to defend against invading armies. It’s really a wonderful art and I have Tony Jaa to thank for making me see it and bringing the sport popularity globally.

Training here was just as intense as I had read about. Well… to be clear people can come and go as they please, but if you’re there to really train and follow the program. It’s simply deadly. A typical day would look like this.

5:30 am wake up and eat a light snack

6:00 am training starts at the gym - a 3 hour morning of intense sparring and bag work plus our daily 5-10k runs and 20 minute skips.

9:00 am training is finished and we would all head home to shower etc, then meet up again to go have a huge breakfast.

during the day was down time and I usually used it for exploring the city and getting my shopping done.

4;00pm the afternoon training starts and it was another 3 hour session but was a little more focused on sparring and a lot of clinching. there was definitely more ring time in the evenings.

7;00 pm when it was all over. depending on the day we would all go home and then grab dinner, or do your own thing.

Ill tell you know, no matter how big you are when you go. If you’re maintaining that level of endurance and physical output for a prolonged period of time. You will get small. When I went to Thailand I was 185lbs approx and jacked. I came home after 6 months at 163lbs - also pretty jacked .. maybe shredded is more the word lol. It didn’t matter how much I ate. You simply could not eat enough to gain weight lol.

After my time was over I had so many dreams and plans and none of them came through. Instead I ended up in school back in Toronto and I just sort of fell off for a couple years. If you haven’t done that before.. let me tell you. It’s hard. I was a literal machine back then and all of a sudden just a potato. I wouldn’t stay that way. I couldn’t I still had goals and dreams.. so Eventually I got back to work. I actually was teaching Muay Thai for some time (still can if you’re interested. I have all the pads) and I was slowly becoming in love with the process again. Muscle mass was never on my mind. It was always.. faster stronger harder. I was obsessed with Bruce Lee and martial arts.

Until one day.. The Pump caught me
